Quercetin is a flavonol found widely in fruits and vegetables. For years it was filed under "antioxidant, good for you." More recent research puts it in a more specific and more interesting category: senolytics — compounds that selectively clear senescent cells, the "zombie cells" that stop dividing but refuse to die, instead sitting in tissue and releasing inflammatory signals.
What senescent cells actually do
Senescent cells accumulate with age across tissues, including skin. - What you can act on today: supporting the same longevity pathway family through ingredients with established topical delivery and disclosed dosing.
There's also a broader lesson in quercetin's story that applies well beyond this one compound: a mechanism being real and well-documented in cell and animal studies doesn't automatically mean a topical product containing that ingredient is delivering it effectively to your skin.
